PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE WITH CHRISTINA LI

Christina Li joined me onboard Mermaid II for one of our epic nine day Raja Ampat diving safaris where she participated in one of the photo workshops I offer onboard. As with all my students, I ask to see a quick selection of their photos just to gauge their experience and their grasp of the various photographic concepts. It was clear form the beginning that she was the studious type, no doubt the one in class who always has their homework done a day early. Her photos showcased a clear understanding of manual exposure and a pretty solid hold on lighting. With a few nudges in the right direction with her strobe positioning and composition she would no doubt be able to take her photography from something very basic to something quite extraordinary. Together we focused on various aspects of underwater photography like natural light with the shallow hard coral reefs, schooling fish, to more technical skills like shooting in mangroves and finding more interesting compositions within the reef. Like the good student she is, Christina absorbed the information like a sponge and got the results she was after. It will be a real joy to follow Christina as she pursues her passion for the ocean and underwater photography. Here is a selection of her photos, before and after her photo course with yours truly.
